THE RIGHT STAFF is supporting a client in the consumer packaged goods industry with its search for a Senior Accountant. This direct-hire opportunity is located in St. Paul, MN and offers an excellent salary, generous benefits, and the opportunity to join a highly collaborative, positive, and focused team.

The Senior Accountant will maintain and validate the integrity of financial results. Responsible for assigned areas of month-end close, financial statements and reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting practices and in compliance with Company policies and procedures. Review, audit and reconcile journal entry transactions and balance sheet. Collaborate with Company locations and cross-functional departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensure all financial and operational transactions are accurately captured. Establish and nurture relationships within office and manufacturing locations.
• Prepares monthly journal entries.
• Verifies, review, reconciles and audits all supporting schedules and ledgers for system interfaces to the general ledger.
• Performs monthly reconciliations for designated accounts, monitoring financials for discrepancies and trends.
• Utilizing professional accounting and technical knowledge, accurately prepares financial statements (e.G. Balance sheet, income statement, supplementary management schedules) and consolidating reports.
• Provides parent company communication including monthly reporting, administer inter-company entries and ad-hoc requests.
• Researches and resolves problems pertaining to accounting systems and records, ensuring compliance with Company policies and procedures.
• Provides clarity in a professional manner when questioned about financial data. Offers practical insight to address concerns raised by account contributors, Financial Analysts, and management.
• Responds to ad-hoc requests from auditors (annual or interim), banks, Parent Company, tax preparers, governmental agencies, etc.
• Using a thorough understanding of GAAP principles and DFA Accounting Policies, interprets complex accounting transactions and implements best practices.

Education Requirements
• Bachelor s Degree in Accounting with CPA or CMA preferred
• 5 plus years of general accounting experience, preferably in the consumer packaged goods industry

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Requirements
• Proven examples of leadership and progressive responsibility
• Advanced in Excel and JDE experience preferred
• Ability to perform in a fast paced environment
• Ability to multi task with high attention to detail
• Advanced analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and see projects through to completion
• Excellent time management and organization skills
