Purchasing Specialist – Contract-Hire/Full-time – Onsite in Minnetonka, MN

This opportunity is with a small, stable manufacturing company that values reliability, accuracy, and teamwork. The Purchasing Specialist plays a critical role in managing the purchasing of components for distribution, maintaining appropriate stocking levels, and ensuring materials are available to support customer orders and delivery timelines. This is a hands-on position ideal for a motivated individual contributor who enjoys ownership, organization, and seeing the purchasing process through from order to delivery.
The company uses Sage X3 as its ERP/business system. Over time, this person will have the opportunity to become the internal subject matter expert (SME) for Sage X3, serving as the go-to resource for system knowledge, troubleshooting, process questions, and ongoing improvements.
JOB DETAILS:
Pay: $28–$30/hour, based on experience
Contract-to-Hire opportunity
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm
Location: 100% onsite in Minnetonka, MN
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage daily purchasing activities for components and parts supporting distribution with both global and domestic partners.
Manage purchasing activity across 1,000+ part numbers
Review customer orders, demand, usage, and inventory levels to determine purchasing needs
Set and maintain appropriate stocking levels, reorder points, and purchasing quantities
Create, issue, track, and follow up on purchase orders with suppliers
Monitor supplier confirmations, lead times, and delivery dates to ensure materials arrive when needed
Coordinate the process from customer order through purchasing, receipt, and delivery
Monitor volume and usage of specific part numbers to support purchasing decisions
Identify material shortages, late deliveries, and potential supply issues and proactively expedite as needed
Maintain accurate item data, supplier information, lead times, and purchasing parameters within the ERP system
Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, discrepancy investigation, and system updates
Use Excel and ERP tools for data entry, tracking, reporting, and purchasing analysis
questions, troubleshoot system/process issues, and help improve how the company uses the system
Help identify opportunities to improve purchasing, inventory, and ERP processes
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have 3+ years of purchasing/procurement experience (Required)
Experience purchasing components, parts, materials, or products for distribution or manufacturing
Experience managing a high volume of SKUs/part numbers; experience with 1,000+ part numbers preferred
Experience using Sage X3 ERP or StockIQ preferred; open to candidates with experience using similar ERP, purchasing, or inventory systems
Experience with purchase orders, supplier follow-up, lead times, deliveries, and expediting
Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and follow-through
Excel skills at a basic to intermediate level
Self-motivated, hands-on contributor mindset
