THE RIGHT STAFF is partnering with a forward-thinking and expanding industrial organization to identify a technically strong and solutions-oriented Process Engineer. This position will play a pivotal role in building and enhancing air-cooled heat exchanger (ACHE) capabilities while supporting both current project execution and long-term product development initiatives.
This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working across the full project lifecycle and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, practical engineering solutions.
Essential Job Duties:
• Apply specialized engineering software (such as HTRI Xchanger Suite) to perform thermal analysis, equipment sizing, and performance evaluation of air-cooled heat exchangers
• Analyze operating conditions including environmental factors, airflow, fouling, and varying load scenarios to optimize system performance
• Prepare detailed engineering calculations and documentation, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and validation of all assumptions
• Determine appropriate equipment configurations including tube specifications, fin selection, bundle layouts, and flow arrangements
• Evaluate alternative system designs, including induced-draft and forced-draft configurations, to support optimal design selection
• Generate and maintain technical documentation such as design standards, equipment specifications, and data sheets
• Support vendor selection processes by participating in technical reviews, bid evaluations, and clarifications
• Partner with internal teams across engineering disciplines, fabrication, and operations to ensure designs are feasible and aligned with project requirements
• Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases, including troubleshooting and issue resolution
• Assist in performance testing, system optimization, and improvement initiatives for existing equipment
• Contribute to the development of internal tools, methodologies, and best practices to drive consistency and scalability
• Ensure all engineering work aligns with applicable safety standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in thermal/process design, with preference for experience related to air-cooled heat exchanger systems
• Demonstrated experience using HTRI Xchanger Suite or similar thermal design software
• Strong foundation in heat transfer, fluid flow, and process system design principles
• Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering-related software tools
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
• Willingness to travel approximately 10%+
Position Benefits, Location, Pay, & Schedule:
• 100% onsite role based in Edmonton, AL (Canada)
• Schedule is Monday to Friday, standard business hours
• Full-time, direct-hire opportunity
• Competitive compensation based on experience, approx. $80k to $120k, DOE
