Tool & Die Maker / Machinist – Part-Time, Onsite in Bloomington, MN

We are partnering with a small, specialized manufacturing organization that produces precision components for industrial equipment. This hands-on role is ideal for an experienced Tool & Die Maker or Machinist who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working as the primary machining resource supporting both production and prototype development.
JOB DETAILS:
Direct hire (DH) opportunity with a flexible part-time schedule (approximately 20–24 hours per week)
100% onsite in the Bloomington, MN area
Standard weekday hours with scheduling flexibility based on workload and availability
Pay range of $25–$32/hour depending on experience, with flexibility for strong candidates
No traditional benefits offered due to part-time structure (ESST eligible where applicable)
Work environment includes a traditional manual machining and tool room setting
Training provided for company-specific equipment and processes
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build, repair, and modify tooling, fixtures, and mechanical components
Machine precision parts using manual equipment such as mills, lathes, and related tools
Support production operations by troubleshooting and resolving tooling and equipment issues
Assist engineering teams with prototype fabrication and product development support
Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions
Inspect finished parts to ensure compliance with tight tolerances and quality standards
Perform routine maintenance on shop equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Communicate updates and manage priorities across multiple projects
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent required
5+ years of experience in machining, tool and die, or precision fabrication environments
Strong hands-on experience with manual machining equipment
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Proven ability to produce high-quality components with tight tolerances
Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams
