We are assisting our client in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis, MN with an outstanding opportunity for a Drafting Department Lead to join their organization. Ideal candidates will have excellent leader and communication skills with proficiency in AutoCAD and Inventor design software. This is a direct-hire opportunity!

The Drafting Department Lead will be responsible to direct, monitor, and manage all Drafting Department projects. This will include reviewing bid documents, such as architectural prints and project specifications with Project Managers, and scheduling and managing work flow through the department. Will also initiate methods and systems to add efficiencies to the department, as well as perform standard duties of the department draftsman.

Drafting Department Lead:
• Located in northern Minneapolis suburbs
• Direct Hire Position
• Pay: $60K -$70K
• Monday through Friday; 7:00am to 4:30pm

Drafting Department Lead Responsibilities:
• Assign tasks to drafting team to meet short term and long term deadlines and goals
• Take part in project turnover meetings with Project management, Engineering & Production
• Foster good communication with current team members as well as the production team
• Support continuous improvement whether it is process, hardware, or software within the department
• Communicate, review and submit shop drawings to client for review
• Review red-lined drawings for projects and insure that corrections are made
• solve and troubleshoot issues as they arise
• Develop and oversee the training within the department to provide the skills necessary to do the job and enhance the employee s career path
• Follows procedures in company handbook and other documents pertaining to company policies

Drafting Department Lead Requirements:
• Minimum of a High School diploma with 5 years related experience as an estimator and/or draftsman, OR a Technical School degree with 3 years experience, AND 2 years experience managing or providing work direction to other employees
• Proficient at AutoCAD and Inventor
• Detail-orientated, high degree of accuracy, and ability to multi-task
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to follow-up and follow-through to meet deadlines
