Director of Tax – Direct Hire Opportunity – 100% On-site in Shoreview, MN
THE RIGHT STAFF has partnered with a fast-growing and innovative financial services organization in their search for a Director of Tax to join their team in a full-time, permanent capacity. This position is located 100% onsite in Shoreview, MN (no hybrid or remote flexibility available).
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced tax professional looking to step away from the traditional public accounting busy season while remaining deeply engaged in high-level tax planning and advisory work. The Director of Tax (Central) will build and lead a newly created department, serving as the organization's primary tax resource for Financial Advisors across the country. Working closely with executive leadership, including the CFO, President, and company founders, this individual will help shape the vision, processes, and future growth of Tax Central while building a team to support the organization's continued expansion.

Monday-Friday, standard business hours (approximately 8:00 AM-5:00 PM).
100% onsite in Arden Hills, MN.

Essential Job Duties:
Serve as the primary tax resource for Financial Advisors nationwide by providing tax planning guidance, technical expertise, and strategic recommendations.
Review individual, business, and other tax returns to identify planning opportunities, errors, omissions, and tax-saving strategies.
Prepare complex tax returns for Financial Advisors and their clients as needed.
Develop tax resources, educational materials, and best practices to support advisors in serving their clients.
Partner closely with executive leadership to establish and grow the newly created Tax Central department.
Design, implement, and continuously improve department processes, workflows, and operational efficiencies.
Build strong relationships with Financial Advisors while effectively communicating complex tax concepts to diverse audiences.
Leverage technology and tax software to improve accuracy, streamline workflows, and increase operational efficiency.
Recruit, hire, mentor, and lead future Tax Accountants and Administrative staff as the department expands.
Stay current on federal, state, and local tax regulations while serving as the organization's subject matter expert.
Minimum Requirements:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required; CPA-track candidates with significant tax experience may also be considered.
3-7+ years of hands-on tax planning and tax preparation experience required.
Public Accounting experience strongly preferred; corporate or in-house tax experience will also be considered.
Experience preparing and reviewing a variety of tax returns, including individual and business returns.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex tax information clearly.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and work collaboratively across multiple teams.
