Assistant Controller - Hybrid/Onsite - Direct Hire 

THE RIGHT STAFF has partnered with an engineering consulting firm to hire an experienced Assistant Controller for their corporate headquarters located in the Southwest Metro.

This full-time, hybrid position plays a key role in supporting accurate financial reporting, process improvements, and the integrity of the company’s accounting operations. The Assistant Controller will collaborate closely with the Controller and CFO to ensure that all financial functions align with the company's objectives.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Oversee General Ledger (GL) and Accounts Payable (AP) activities to ensure timely and accurate monthly financial close processes.
  • Review financial statements and reports to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
  • Support the development and implementation of accounting policies and internal controls; provide training to maintain consistency in financial practices.
  • Partner with HR and Payroll teams to ensure payroll compliance, reconciliation, and reporting accuracy.
  • Participate in year-end closing activities, external audit preparation, and tax reporting efforts.
  • Review and file monthly sales tax returns while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments to enhance financial visibility and operational efficiency.
  • Assist with project-based accounting tasks and provide financial insights to leadership as needed.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • 5+ years of experience in similar role (Assistant Controller or higher).
  • Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and experience in financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting a mid-sized or growth-stage organization preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with construction or project-based accounting software a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality and professional discretion.
  Position Benefits, Pay, & Schedule:
  • Compensation ranges from $100,000–$110,000 annually, depending on experience.
  • Hybrid schedule based in Eden Prairie, MN.
  • Standard business hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with flexibility.
  • Direct-hire opportunity with a stable, long-standing company.
