SENIOR COUNSEL - DATA PRIVACY! Hybrid/Onsite! Downtown, Minneapolis

Are you an experienced privacy professional who excels in advising clients on complex data protection matters? Do you enjoy working across industries to help organizations navigate evolving privacy, cybersecurity, and AI laws?

Join a mid-sized professional services firm's Data Privacy team as a Data Privacy Associate or Counsel, advising clients on regulatory compliance, incident response, and data related transactional matters. This role is ideal for a motivated attorney who thrives in a fast paced environment and enjoys a mix of advisory, governance, and strategic project work.

JOB DETAILS:
• Pay: $230, 000 - $330, 000 annually, DOE
• Location: Minneapolis, MN - hybrid/onsite schedule
• Type: Direct Hire
• Hours: Full-time; more than 40 hours per week

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Advise clients on federal, state, and international privacy, cybersecurity, and
AI laws.
• Conduct privacy assessments, audits, and support development of privacy programs and governance structures.
• Assist clients with data breach response and security incident management.
• Draft and negotiate data related contracts, including DPAs, BAAs, data sharing agreements, SLAs, and technology licenses.
• Support M&A transactions, including conducting privacy-focused due diligence and integrating privacy requirements post transaction.
• Draft and review privacy notices, terms of service, cookie policies, and advise on cross border data transfers.
• Monitor emerging legislation, regulatory guidance, and enforcement trends; communicate implications to clients.
• Develop and deliver privacy and cybersecurity training for client teams.
• Assist with regulatory inquiries, investigations, and related litigation.
• Contribute to business development through writing, speaking, and client relationship building.
• Mentor junior lawyers and support development of high-quality work product.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• 4-8 years of legal experience, including at least 3 years focused on privacy, cybersecurity, and/or AI.
• Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills with excellent attention
to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and adapt to a fast paced work environment.
• Highly motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
• Proficient with MS Word and general computer applications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
IAPP certifications: CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, AIGP.
• Strong working knowledge of GDPR.
• Experience with technology companies, healthcare organizations, or data intensive businesses.
• Combination of law firm and in house or secondment experience.
• Litigation experience.
• Experience with iManage.
